Our first stop of the morning was the Place de l'Hotel de Ville, the public square outside of Paris’ City Hall, where many a Parisian lost their head. Here we were given a brief history of L’Hotel de Ville, the home of the Paris city government since 1357. The square has seen many a revolution and resistance since its inception, and the buildings still bear the scars of artillery shells from the liberation of Paris during WWII.
