Bonjour! I’m Jen. Bienvenue! |
This is the story of my first trip to pretty much anywhere, ever.
I’d describe myself as adventurous of heart, yet anxious of mind, if that makes sense. A shy kid who grew up dreaming of exploring the pyramids of Egypt, the ruins of Rome, and tracing my grandmother’s roots through the French countryside. I knew I was always destined to travel, but for years I let fears and finances get in my way. And then the pandemic happened. I spent a lot of time during the pandemic watching travel shows to remind myself that there was still a world out there to explore when all the craziness was over. It was an endeavor that was both self-preservation and torture because with every show I watched the call to get out and explore became louder. And that’s when I realized that the desire to fulfill my lifelong travel dreams had finally grown stronger than my fears and anxieties. If I had learned anything from the pandemic, its that tomorrow is never promised. So I made a commitment to myself to go somewhere as soon as the world opened back up again. Initially, I was going to try and go it alone, but after having a few honest conversations about realistic expectations, I concluded that it would be a step too far out of my comfort zone to travel on my own. So, I started looking at tour groups where I would be able to travel alone, but not alone. |
Why Rick Steves? The travel show I most enjoyed watching and rewatching was Rick Steves’ Europe. I appreciated the history and the humor, and the tips and tricks that Rick Steves deployed to make traveling Europe look so easy. So when it came time to plan my great escape, I headed over to the Rick Steves Website to shop guidebooks, and that’s where I stumbled upon the Rick Steves Tours.
It was a no brainer that I would choose a Rick Steves Tour because if anyone knows Europe, it's Rick Steves. |
